Our Story

Chokhiwadi Forest Retreat — A Beautiful, Rooted Place

Tucked away where rustling forests meet sun-drenched trails, Chokhiwadi Forest Retreat started as a simple dream. A way to slow down. A way to step out of the city chaos and into something quieter, greener, more real.

Just a few hours’ drive from the noise, it’s a refreshing weekend getaway from Delhi or a quiet staycation near Delhi NCR. We built this for anyone searching for Sariska resorts that actually feel connected to the wild, without giving up comfort. Because who says you can’t have both?

The Land, the Dream, and the Forest We Grew

Back in 2022, this place was just dust. Quiet. Almost empty. Most people would’ve walked past it. Nothing to see. But the founders saw something else. A chance to build. So it started. Slowly. With help from local artisans. Real hands, real work. They planted trees. A lot of them. Over 20,000, all native. They brought back wild grass, too—around 9.5 acres of it. Step by step, things changed. What was dry and lifeless began to shift. It wasn’t quick. But it was real. Now, it’s different. There’s shade. There’s movement. You hear birds again. Wind through leaves. That empty patch? It’s alive now. With the help of labourers and artisans from nearby villages, they began a slow and loving transformation: planting over 20,000 native trees, nurturing 9.5 acres of wild grass cover, and building up an ecosystem from scratch. Today, this once-empty landscape is a forested haven — shaded, singing, and alive

Meet the Founders

Vikram Sahgal, Dr. Pritha Biswas, and Varun Sahgal — a family who left behind city comforts for compost, chulhas, and a canvas of green.

Vikram-Sahgal-Chokhiwadi-Founder

Vikram Sahgal

Vikram Sahgal isn't your average suits-and-boardrooms type; he’s a lifelong traveler and naturalist who actually walks the talk. As a co-founder of Chokhiwadi, he’s poured his soul into rewilding the land and pushing for real-deal ecology. He's basically obsessed with bringing nature back to its roots, one acre at a time.

Dr. Pritha Biswas

Dr. Pritha Biswas

Pritha Biswas is the quiet force and co-founder behind the scenes at Chokhiwadi, bringing a sharp, grounding energy to the whole operation. She’s not just about the business side of things; she’s deeply committed to the ethos of sustainable living and building a community that actually respects the land.

Varun Sahgal

Varun Sahgal

Varun Sahgal is far from your typical resort owner; he’s a storyteller who traded a high-octane corporate life with global giants like Bajaj and Genpact for the quiet grit of the Aravalli hills. As a co-founder of Chokhiwadi and a published author of titles like Chandrahasa, he’s the creative engine behind the retreat.

In their words:

“We didn’t set out to build a retreat. We were just looking for home. But once we found it, we loved it and knew it had to be shared."

A Forest That Grows Its People

We didn’t start out planning a retreat. Honestly, we were just looking for a place to call home. Then we found this spot. Felt different. Hard to explain. We knew we couldn’t keep it to ourselves. Chokhiwadi grew from there.

Not just a getaway. More like a living, breathing project.

So, what’s actually in a name?
