In 2022, this was just land: no shade, no structure, no guests.
The founders of our Sariska resort walked down 9.5 acres of open ground in the Aravalli foothills and decided to create something that belonged here, not merely build something that was put there. Before the first of its rooms was prepared, more than 20,000 native trees had been planted. The forest you see here today was not inherited. It was planted, tended, and earned over years of deliberate work.
Chokhiwadi uses more than 90% organic food forests and native tree cover. Local communities themselves formed a part of the plan from day one, not as an afterthoughtbut as a principal foundation. When guests arrive, they notice something special they did not expect, and the pace changes. The air feels different. The nights belong to them. That is not a coincidence. It is the outcome of doing things right, from the very start.

The baori is a very ancient concept of Rajasthan — a stepwell or pond constructed to collect, care for and worship water in an area which was always precious. Ours is handmade, uses local stone and lime plaster, settled in the middle of our property as a water body.
Water from the baori is reused directly into the surrounding lawns. Trees are planted near it, and gradually peacocks began flocking in, even the jungle babblers, a small group of resident geese visits every morning without fail. At sunrise, the surface catches the light in a way that stops people mid-walk. By night, the silence around it is absolute.
The guests do not intend to spend time here. Rather, they find themselves with their feet in the water and eyes to the treeline. That is pretty much what a baori is designed to do.

The pool at Chokhiwadi does not fight hard against its surroundings — it blends into them. It is fully open 360 degrees to the Aravalli hills and at least gives a sense that it isn’t even a man-made place as much as just part of the landscape itself.
No background music to evoke the moment. Just the endless sky above, still water below and hills standing in watchfulness. During the winter, the pool transforms into a sun-drenched sanctuary — a place where guests relax in the spirit of warm afternoons and often with something cool from the restaurant close by.
During the summer, it becomes the core experience. While you get into the river, the heat of the Aravallis makes every dip well deserved; what starts as a short break often turns out to be hours without realizing it.

The Lair at Chokhiwadi is not just a lounge. It is a space that feels like a vintage study, filled with antiques and stories. Antique weapons, paintings and curated artefacts from across the subcontinent decorate the walls, each with a narrative worth saving. One corner has a gramophone, while working shelves of a library invite you to pick up and read, not for display but for use.
In the middle of the room is a ceremonial throne, carved from a single piece of wood. Snakes, a turtle, a toad and a dragon appear in the frame. It was never meant to be the point of focus, but it quietly grabs your attention. It is something that often draws guests.
As the day winds down, a lair itself comes as a whisper. It’s an atmosphere that values inquisitiveness.

Our 4 star resort in Sariska also offers a gym for guests who keep their routine on schedule. Sparse, clean and honest. The gym has a bright, sun-drenched area with big windows giving an exit to leafy, green trees and as a bonus, Aravallis.
The gym offers equipment, such as treadmills, steppers, cycles, weights, skipping ropes and yoga mats with full-length mirrors. It is silently crafted — developed to avoid distraction in the mind. You can select your own music, fragrance and lighting — or leave it all to us and just move.
Be it stretching at dawn’s light or running out a long day, the gym flows a certain serenity that couldn’t be found at other gyms. The mountains outside the window are not just a view; they are inspiration. It is perhaps the only gym where the Aravallis show up to your workout.

Our yoga lawn, called Vaayu (the Sanskrit word for air), is one of the most serene places that will reboot you.
The lawn sits open to the sky, completely isolated from the rooms and noise overhead. It is enclosed by walls of bougainvillaea and organic gardens, facing the Aravallis on the horizon.
The space has a capacity for over 400 people. On-demand yoga teachers are also available for morning breathwork, midday meditation or sunset stretches. Ideal alone, with family or for a corporate offsite. The air is fresher and cooler at this height; you can feel the difference, as if each breath is purposeful. As the Aravallis glimmer at dusk, and the bougainvillaea shadows the sunlight, Vaayu takes over being just a yoga lawn and becomes one reason to extend your stay.

Unlike many resorts in Sariska, we offer a raw, open-air experience that feels truly disconnected from everyday life. On the edge of the property, where there are few trees and the Aravalli hills feel closest, the camp makes for a stay away from normalcy.
35 tents are spread out through an open clearing in the woods with trees on all sides. It accommodates roughly 100 guests, yet feels intimate and leisurely even at full tilt. It is a simple but well-kept setup with shared washrooms, open skies, and just enough distance .
Here a bonfire blazes well into the night. Someone starts singing. Conversations drift, blankets come out, and a sky of stars unplugs from the ground above it. For those looking for a genuine Sariska camp resort experience, Chokhiwadi is the perfect place.

The Food Forest at Chokhiwadi is not an afterthought; it’s where the story began. We planted the first trees in 2022, an entire year before the resort opened. This area has since transformed into a healthy ecosystem with more than 7,000 trees, including pomegranates, lemons, gooseberries, papayas and oranges among them.
We harvest by season, which also benefits the kitchen and neighbouring communities. Visitors may walk through, sit underneath and even pick from the trees when the time is right. No fences, no lines, because this is not designed like one of a resort’s typical attractions.
Over the years, the canopy will become denser; this will make it one of the region’s most unique private forests. Even now, it gives something rare — cooler air, soft light, and hushed air which somehow makes a typical afternoon worth remembering.
Discover Local Cuisine
At Chokhiwadi, food is grown before it is cooked, something that sets it apart from most luxury hotels in Sariska, where the kitchen and the land have little to do with each other. All the dishes are rooted in the soil and tradition of Rajasthan, the result of recipes hundreds of years old. It is a creatively designed kitchen that works in close connection to its own land, using freshly harvested seasonal fruits and vegetables grown on the property or in nearby villages. From the rich dal baati churma to the slow-cooked laal maas, every meal gives you a glimpse of bold and earthy flavours.
It is not so much what you eat, but where you eat that makes the experience one to remember. Chokhiwadi presents dining experiences in the star-studded sky beside the baori, during a silent high tea amid the dense jungle or sundowners just as golden skin overtakes the Aravalli hills at twilight.

Spice Aangan is Chokhiwadi’s flagship dining experience — a 40-seater, intimate space, located under an opulent Maharaja-styled tent, where the mood created in the setting matters as much as what’s on your plate. The room has a cozy warmth and peacefulness. Soft lighting sets a mood with fabric-covered walls displaying wildlife photography shot by the founder in Sariska, allowing the wilderness to leak into your dining experience.
The menu is inspired by the rich, traditional flavours of Rajasthan. The dishes are made with seasonal products, most of them grown on-site or brought from nearby village farms. In addition to those regional specialities, a range of national and international dishes guarantees diversity, while still making sure the cuisines’ specialities are respected.
The menus are designed to be seasonal, meaning that what you taste in winter might be different from what you taste in summer, always keeping every visit fresh and connected to the space. Spice Aangan is the heart of dining at Chokhiwadi, but the experience goes well beyond with poolside buffets, open-air barbecues and bonfire dinners under a starlit sky. In a region where most Sariska hotels offer dining as an amenity, Chokhiwadi treats it as an experience.

Alwar, nestled in Rajasthan’s Aravalli hills, offers a captivating blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty that is unlike anywhere else in India. Ancient forts, quiet lakes, forests thick with wildlife, and some of the best Sariska hotels and resorts within easy reach. It does not feel like somewhere that should be this close to the city, and yet it is.
You can spend a morning at Siliserh Lake, an afternoon wandering through the Alwar City Palace, and find yourself at the ancient Neelkanth Mahadev Temple before the day is done. Or you can go looking for a tiger in Sariska and spend the rest of the trip thinking about what you saw.
Chokhiwadi Forest Retreat is the resort near Delhi and NCR that puts you right at the edge of all of it: Alwar’s untamed wilderness and its layered royal history, without the long journey.

Nestled among the Aravalli hills, the Sariska National Park harbours Alwar’s royal tradition and an extraordinary tale of wildlife conservation in India. A timeline of Sariska’s journey begins as a royal hunting ground of the Alwar maharajas — rich in wildlife. In 1955, it was declared a wildlife sanctuary. In 1978, it was the start of the India Project Tiger for conserving a declining tiger population.
During the early 2000s, it was a blow to the guts — Sariska was wiped out of tigers. In 2008, the first successful tiger relocation project in India happened at Ranthambhore. During this time, 43 Tigers were rescued, including dozens of cubs, in March 2025.
Today, Sariska is far more than a wildlife destination. It stands as a reminder of how nature can recover and thrive when given time, care, and intent.

And this is our jungle philosophy: we live by the land, the wildlife and the rhythms of this place — not just around them. We value staying comfortable and protecting the wild. Guests actually get the space to connect with the forest without any edited version of it. Luxury lets you take a step back, sit still and feel complete.
The entire design of the retreat is nestled into the surroundings, not on top of them. For us, the jungle is our home.
If you wake at dawn to birdsong or walk barefoot on paths cloaked in mist, if you sit quietly beneath stars scattered over the night sky — a lot changes. These moments help you remember what really matters, even if you take a jungle safari in Sariska. Everything feels still and calm.

Care is not just a strategy at Chokhiwadi. That is our day-to-day responsibility.
The milk we use is sourced from village families that start their mornings much like we do. Our mud villas are crafted, shaped and painted by local women who are hard-working, talented and unbelievably good at what they do.
The majority of staff live in villages less than 5 km from Chokhiwadi — they know this land as much as we know our home. Everyone here is making a living, practising, and carrying on the community.
When you stay at Chokhiwadi, you become part of something more — a philosophy that places it among the best ones.

Stayed at Chokhiwadi Forest Retreat recently and honestly, it exceeded expectations. Varun, the host, was extremely friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. You can tell the hospitality here is genuine and not just transactional. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very well maintained, which made the stay comfortable throughout. What really stands out is the overall vibe of the place. It’s incredibly serene, surrounded by nature, and perfect if you’re looking to disconnect from the chaos of city life. The swimming pool was clean and well-kept, and the property overall reflects a lot of attention to detail. We also got to participate in community-style activities, which added a nice social and experiential touch to the stay. The food was fresh and well-prepared, and you can feel the farm-to-table approach they try to maintain. Overall, great hospitality, peaceful environment, and a thoughtfully designed retreat. Definitely recommend it for a relaxed weekend getaway.Posted on rajat tuliTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The stay was worthwhile and the hospitality was great. Special thanks to Chef Varun and Chef Tapas, the food was delicious and unique, something we will definitely be back for. Loved our stay here.Posted on Harish TGTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a pleasant stay at Chokiwadi Forest Retreat, the property is beautiful and the staff is courteous. Propert is located in the forest and view in the night is breathtaking. However, the food pricing is very high (comparable to 5-star hotels) but the quantity served is extremely small. For example, dishes like Chicken 65, Paneer Tikka, and Chicken Tikka (around ₹500 each) had only about 5 very small pieces, tawa roti is ₹99, which is not justified and quite disappointing. Also, having a small fridge in the room would be helpful, especially during summer, as repeatedly calling room service for chilled items is inconvenient. Overall, a good stay, but these improvements would make the experience much better.
